Guest mode
Guest mode stores sightings, evidence photos, drafts, Fisher Mode logs and preferences on your device. They are not published to the AegeanGuard Network unless you sign in and explicitly sync or publish a report.
Network accounts
Network accounts store email, username, display name, a salted password hash, optional profile fields, role/verification state, revocable device sessions, Terms acceptance and a simple 16+ eligibility confirmation. AegeanGuard does not need to store your date of birth for this gate and never stores plaintext passwords.
Network content
Published observations, photos, comments, follows, likes, confirmations, bookmarks, watch zones, notifications, moderation history and expert-review records are stored so the shared Network can function. Public profile responses intentionally omit private product-preference metadata such as analytics settings.
Location
Location is requested for foreground actions you initiate. Observations may include precise coordinates for evidence quality. If coordinate blur is enabled, the server itself reduces public precision rather than trusting the device alone. Exact coordinates remain separate from the public representation and are included in your own account export.
Photos and AI
Evidence images are checked, decoded and re-encoded before storage. In production, durable object storage is required by default. Private object storage can use short-lived signed media links. Server-side AI can rank candidate species and deliberately abstain when image quality or confidence is insufficient. AI results never equal expert verification.
Analytics and reliability
AegeanGuard can store first-party product events and minimal client-error telemetry to measure reliability and improve flows. Signed-in users can disable first-party product analytics in Profile. The error endpoint is designed not to intentionally collect passwords, form contents or precise observation coordinates. No advertising SDK is included and AegeanGuard does not sell user data.
Feedback and moderation
If you send feedback or report user-generated content, AegeanGuard stores the message/report, category or reason, relevant target identifier, moderation status and optional diagnostic/contact information you choose to provide. Moderation and expert actions may be retained in an audit trail for accountability and abuse prevention.
Notifications
If you opt in to Web Push or native notifications, the service stores the technical subscription/token required to deliver alerts. You can revoke notification permission in your browser or device settings.
Third-party services
Optional map, biodiversity and marine-context features can make requests to services such as OpenStreetMap, GBIF, OBIS and marine-model providers. A production operator may also configure hosting, email delivery, durable object storage, Web Push and OAuth providers; the live policy and store Data Safety declaration must reflect the providers actually enabled.
Your controls
You can export Network data, edit or delete your observations, blur coordinates, manage sessions, disable product analytics, block users, sign out and permanently delete your account in-app. An external deletion page is available even if the app is no longer installed.
Operator
The live public deployment must identify its real operator and support/privacy contact before accepting public users. Replace any launch placeholders with those final details before store submission.
