Purpose
AegeanGuard is a marine-safety awareness, citizen-science and biodiversity-reporting platform. It is not a medical service, emergency service, navigation system or guarantee of species identification.
Age eligibility
AegeanGuard Network accounts are currently available to people aged 16 or older. We ask for an age-eligibility confirmation, not your date of birth. Guest field tools can remain available without a Network account.
Safety first
Never touch, taste, eat or handle a marine organism because an AI result, community post or app screen suggests an identification. AI is triage only and can abstain. Expert verification is a separate process. Seek official emergency, poison-control or medical help when appropriate.
Community content
By publishing an observation, photo, profile bio or comment, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it is truthful to the best of your knowledge. Do not fabricate sightings, impersonate others, spam, harass, threaten, dox, publish private information, promote illegal wildlife activity, post hateful or sexually exploitative material, or deliberately provide dangerous safety advice.
Reporting and blocking
AegeanGuard provides in-app controls to report observations, comments and user accounts and to block other users. Moderators may hide content, resolve reports, restrict or suspend accounts, and preserve an audit trail when necessary to protect the community or scientific integrity.
Scientific integrity
Likes, confirmations, reputation and AI scores do not create expert verification. Experts cannot review their own observations. Ordinary verification requires independent reviewer consensus configured by the operator. Editing evidence or report metadata invalidates prior expert votes and returns the record to review.
Privacy and precise location
Published observations can use coordinate blur. Sensitive exact coordinates are treated separately from public coordinates. Do not attempt to expose another person's private location or other private information.
Third-party data
GBIF, OBIS, OpenStreetMap and marine-model information retain their own provenance and terms. AegeanGuard labels these sources separately from Network observations.
Accounts and data control
You can export and permanently delete your Network account and associated Network content. The last administrator of a deployment must first promote another administrator so the service can remain operable.
Enforcement and appeals
Content or accounts may be restricted for safety, abuse, fraud, unlawful activity or repeated violations. A public deployment should provide a support contact so users can ask questions or appeal a moderation decision.
Operator details
Before a public deployment accepts users, the operator must publish its real support contact and applicable legal identity in the live Privacy Policy, store listing or website.
