Trust architecture
Community evidence, AI candidate rankings, independent expert votes and third-party occurrence records are intentionally separate. Popularity cannot create scientific verification; uncertain AI can abstain; users cannot confirm their own observations; experts cannot review their own reports; report edits invalidate prior votes.
Local-first + shared Network
The field toolkit keeps working in guest/offline mode. Signing in adds shared sightings, cross-device identity, follows, comments, bookmarks, alerts, moderation controls, expert review, reputation and real impact metrics.
Safety & moderation
Users can report posts, comments and accounts and block other users. Admin moderation can hide content or suspend accounts while preserving an audit trail. Public publishing requires acceptance of the current Terms and Community Guidelines.
Open-science outputs
Research tools support CSV, JSON, GeoJSON and Darwin Core-oriented exports, while GBIF/OBIS layers remain provenance-labelled.
Production stance
The public production configuration is intentionally strict: HTTPS, a durable database, production email delivery and durable evidence-photo storage are required by default. Development mode remains simple for local testing.
